Frequently asked questions
What is a split-core cable current transformer?
A cable split-core CT (TQ, TC) is opened, placed around the existing cable and secured with UV-resistant cable ties. The cable does not have to be disconnected – ideal for energy monitoring in existing installations. For busbars there are busbar split-core CTs. Cable split-core CTs explained →
What does 800/1 A mean?
With 800 A in the primary conductor, the transformer delivers 1 A to the meter or measuring device – a ratio of 800:1. Meters and instruments are set to this CT ratio. The 1 A secondary keeps cable losses low on long measuring lines.
Will it fit my cable?
The window decides: the types listed here take round conductors of Ø 42 mm, depending on the type. The datasheet of each type gives the exact window and busbar dimensions. CT finder →
Which accuracy class?
For split-core cable current transformers 800/1 A, class 0.5 is available here. Billing-relevant metering requires class 0.5 or better; for display and monitoring class 1 is usually sufficient. Accuracy class comparison →
